2. Why did you decide on this listening?
Before I always listen lectures about science, so I want to change to Art.
3. I listen for 25 minutes.
4. I used on line dictionary. Did using an online dictionary make a difference in your comprehension? Was it an English-English dictionary? Why/why not?
5. Not very difficult, easier than science topic, but there are a lot of detail information which is difficult to organize.

First time I just listen and take some notes. Second time I try to repeat the sentences.

The development of digital cinema
9. Write a short summary.
The early developed motion pictures in 20 centuray gradually develop into nowadays digital cinema. In this process, it needs development of technology, financial support and legal systems (law). Edison first made motion pictures in his studio. Then these motion pictures gradually became a business model, and many power companies supported them. After that some legal system and laws were formed. Furthermore, new technology was exploited to push the development of cinema. Until now the films and cinema are moved to Hollywood in California, because the cinemas want to scape those pattern controls.
In addition, the professor mentioned that cinema is a kind of culture production. For example, the number export of US could be culture, because US has many advanced cinemas. Then she also mentioned postproduction techniques involve DVD. DVD is a form for films to distribute physically, and people can also download films form internet.
The three forms of digital productions are television, online and theater.

In my opinion, the digital cinema is a profit organization and a way to distribute culture because???.

Title: BIEB 150-Evolution
1. I searched 2 minutes for the listening.
2. Why did you decide on this listening?
The professor's name is a Chinese name, so I was curious.
3. I listen for 20 minutes.
4. I used on-line dictionary, because there are many professional words which I did not know.
5. a bit too difficult. Because there are many new words, but the professor's speed was not fast.

7. How did you listen?
Fist time I listened and took notes. Second time I listened when I met a new word which frequently appeared, I stopt and look it up in dictionary.
8. What was the listening about?
Genetic imprinting and multiplication.
9. Write a short summary.
Firt of all, the professor talks about genetic imprinting, and he gives a experiment as an example to explain. The experiment is that first take DNA from two eggs of mouse.v Then take out the nucleus from them and put them together though technical method. People think this will work but not. They can not go to make an embryo. So scientists conclude that DNA from a mother or from a father os not equivalent. Besides, DNA form a mother is differnet form DNA from a father. In addition, female or male alone can never make a full embryo. Also it is difficult for a female through a few mutations to generate a clone production. Secondly, the professer talks about imprinting process in mammals. There is another experiement of mice. There is a type of gene called IGF2 which provides lots of fuction for production.

I think the professor is very strict, because he says that the conclusion in biology is not 100% correct, but I give you the most generally accepted opinions.

Because the speed is not very fast.

4. I did not use other resources.
5. Not very difficult, but there are some words I do not know. Did you try to find these words? There is usually a
transcript that can be studied after you listen.

First time I just listen. Secondly, I listen and take some notes. Thirdly, I listen to one sentence and try to repeate it.

Singing again for love

The speaker of the listening said when she is a child because of a singing experience, she believed in singing badly. Therefore, after that she became silence for many years. The same year in her religion class, she listened to a story about a monk who has a terrible voice, but still singing for the god. After that her courage to sing returned when her first child was born. She sang for her baby and try to do her best. Unfortunately, her daughter dead because of leukemia, but sometimes she sang and thaught that her daughter could hear her.
10. What is your opinion of the content?
I think that love is powerful. Love can give people courage.

I think he agrees with the general opinion. Why? What do you mean?

Two stories about individuals' own experiences.
9. Write a short summary
The first story is about some women who do not know they are pregnant. And there is a woman, she found out she was pregnant just a few days before. Finally, the host suggest women that if they find out they gain weight, maybe they are pregnant.
The second story is about man when he was 7 years old. He was raped by his parents' friend's son. And when he grew up he understood what happened, so he even wanted to kill the man. He bought a gun and hided it in his room. However, the gun was discovered by his mom, and he had to tell his mom the truth. Finally, he gave up the plan for his parents. And his parents told their friends this thing. Their friends apologized for them. When the man ask the person who raped him why he did this, the person cried and shaked head, he told him he told the truth to his wife,and his wife asked him whether their children were safe...He said after he became a father, he knew what is love. The hero finally apologized him, because he thought he was a real man, he can told the truth to his wife and family members. In the end, he suggested people that when we confronted with some troubles we should talk with others rather than shoot. Review irregular verbs - shake/shook; hide/hid

I believe that a comfortable conversation can help people open mind and deal with problems.
